An Israeli flag was seen flying early Tuesday morning on Ali al-Taher Hill, a highly strategic vantage point that overlooks the city of Nabatieh in southern Lebanon, Anadolu reports.
Aside from the presence of the flag, news agencies documented no active military maneuvers, Israeli soldiers, or combat vehicles in the immediate vicinity of the hillside.
Situated north of the Litani River, Ali al-Taher Hill is considered one of the most important tactical positions in the border region due to its commanding elevation. The peak holds high military significance because it provides a wide-angle, unobstructed view of Nabatieh, its surrounding towns, and key regional transportation routes. Standing alongside the nearby Israeli-occupied Beaufort Fortress—known in Arabic as Qalaat al-Shaqif—the high ground offers an extensive capability to monitor logistics networks across the southern theater.
According to Lebanon’s Health Ministry, Israel’s assault since March 2 has killed 4,304 people, injured 12,203 others and displaced more than 1 million.
Israeli forces continue to occupy parts of southern Lebanon despite a US-sponsored framework agreement signed on June 26 providing for a gradual Israeli withdrawal beginning with two pilot areas.
