Displaced Palestinians in the Nur Shams Refugee Camp, located in the northern West Bank city of Tulkarm, staged a protest to demand the right to return to their homes, stating that the Israeli army has systematically demolished houses, altering the camp’s geographical and demographic structure on February 09, 2026. The United Nations said on Tuesday that Israeli authorities ordered about 10 Palestinian families in the occupied West Bank to temporarily leave their homes amid Israeli military activity at a nearby refugee camp.

UN Secretary-General spokesman Stephane Dujarric said at a press conference in New York that the United Nations was “deeply alarmed by the continued deterioration of the security and humanitarian situation for Palestinians in the occupied West Bank.”

Dujarric said about ten Palestinian families living in the Jabal al-Nasr neighbourhood of Tulkarm, in the northern West Bank, were instructed by Israeli forces on Monday to leave their homes “for seven hours”, citing military activity in the nearby area.

He said the military activity targeted the nearby Nour Shams camp for Palestine refugees. Israeli military bulldozers dug up part of a road, damaging water and sewage networks, and carried out excavation work on Palestinian-owned land before withdrawing from the area.

The UN spokesman said the families returned to their homes after the Israeli forces withdrew, while municipal teams repaired the damaged infrastructure.
