Israeli media: Senior RSF commander Abdel Rahim Dagalo secretly visited Israel

Senior Sudanese Rapid Support Forces (RSF) commander Abdel Rahim Dagalo has made several secret visits to Israel, according to a report by the Israeli Public Broadcasting Corporation (Kan).

Dagalo, the brother of RSF leader Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo, widely known as Hemedti, is one of the most senior figures in the paramilitary force, which has been fighting the Sudanese Armed Forces since April 2023.

Kan reported that Dagalo had visited Israel on several occasions but did not provide details in the report about the timing, purpose or officials involved in the alleged visits.

Dagalo has been subjected to international sanctions over allegations of serious human rights abuses connected to the conflict in Sudan, particularly in the western Darfur region.

The RSF and allied forces have faced widespread accusations of killings, sexual violence, forced displacement and other abuses against civilians during the war.

The United States has previously determined that members of the RSF and allied militias committed genocide in Sudan and has imposed sanctions on senior figures within the organisation.
