The Israeli army on Sunday threw a stun grenade at worshippers inside a mosque near Bethlehem in the occupied West Bank, in the third attack on places of worship since the start of September.

Voice of Palestine radio said Israeli forces threw a stun grenade towards worshippers inside the Grand Mosque during a raid on Beit Fajjar, south of Bethlehem.

The radio station posted a photograph of the grenade lying on the mosque’s carpet after evening prayers, without giving the exact time of the incident.

On Tuesday evening, Palestinian worshippers suffered breathing difficulties after Israeli forces fired tear gas inside a mosque in Madama village in the Nablus governorate in the northern West Bank.

Voice of Palestine reported at the time that worshippers had suffered breathing difficulties after Israeli forces fired tear gas inside the mosque while they were performing evening prayers.

Israeli attacks on mosques have increased in recent months, including the use of grenades, attempts to set mosques on fire and the writing of racist slogans on their walls.

On 1 Sept, Israeli settlers tried to set fire to the Nour al-Din Zanki Mosque in Bazariya, in the Nablus governorate. After failing to force open its doors, they set fire to a room next to the mosque and scrawled racist slogans and threats against Palestinians on its walls.
