Gaza dentists protest shortage of dental supplies caused by Israeli restrictions

Dentists in the Gaza Strip staged a protest on Tuesday, warning that dental treatment services could come to a complete halt due to severe shortages of essential medical supplies, which they said Israel has prevented from entering the territory, Anadolu reports.

Gathering outside the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) building in Gaza City, dentists called for the entry of materials used for fillings, root canal procedures, anesthesia and other essential treatments.

Mohammed Khashku, a representative of the Gaza Strip Dentists Association, said shortages had already forced some clinics and medical centers to close, while others were operating with extremely limited supplies.

Dentist Suheir Mahmoud said many patients could no longer receive necessary treatment because essential materials were unavailable. She added that the small quantities reaching Gaza through unofficial channels were being sold at prices many Palestinians could not afford.

Dentists warned that remaining supplies could soon be exhausted and called on international organizations and health bodies to help ensure the entry of dental materials and prevent further disruption to treatment services.
