Israel continues artillery fire, airstrikes in southern Lebanon

Israeli ceasefire violations continued in southern Lebanon on Thursday, involving artillery fire and airstrikes alongside large explosions and machine-gun fire in several towns, according to the Lebanese state news agency, Anadolu reports.

The National News Agency reported that the Israeli army carried out a large explosion around the city of Bint Jbeil, while Israeli artillery targeted the outskirts of Kfara, Beit Yahoun and Shaqra in the Bint Jbeil district of Nabatieh province in southern Lebanon.

Israeli artillery also targeted the area between the towns of Mifdoun and Zawtar al-Sharqiyah, as well as Wadi Salouki, according to the agency. The towns of Baraachit and Beit Yahoun were also subjected to heavy and medium machine-gun fire.

In Baraachit, the agency reported that the Israeli army carried out a large explosion overnight in the Al Abd al-Nabi neighborhood.

Israeli artillery also targeted solar panels on the outskirts of Mifdoun overnight, setting them on fire.

In the Tyre district of southern Lebanon, the town of Mansouri came under Israeli fire. The agency reported that Israeli warplanes carried out an airstrike on the town, while its outskirts were subjected to artillery fire.

Meanwhile, the agency reported that an Israeli drone flew over the southern suburbs of Beirut.

The Israeli attacks have killed at least 4,386 people and wounded 12,407 others since March 2, according to Lebanese official figures.

On June 26, Lebanon and Israel signed a US-sponsored Framework Agreement in Washington providing for a gradual Israeli withdrawal from Lebanese territory and the deployment of the Lebanese army to areas vacated by Israeli forces.

Despite the agreement, Israel has continued to carry out attacks in southern Lebanon and maintains a military presence in parts of the south, including territory it has occupied for decades and other areas seized during more recent wars and military operations.
