The targeted vehicle was a public taxi bus, with a trailer attached to the back carrying several civilians who were riding the vehicle. One possibility is that a person wanted by the Israeli military may have been traveling in this taxi.

In previous cases, individuals described as senior figures in the resistance were targeted in their vehicles or at their places of residence, and they were often killed without causing large numbers of casualties among other people.

But this appears to indicate an increase in the pace of targeting ahead of the elections, with those wanted by Israel being targeted wherever they are found—even when they are among dozens of other civilians.
