The Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem, Cardinal Pierbattista Pizzaballa, on Saturday mourned two Palestinian Christian women killed by Israel in an airstrike on Gaza City, Anadolu reports.
The Israeli army struck an apartment in Gaza City’s Rimal neighborhood, killing five people, including a Christian mother and her daughter, and injuring several others, medical sources told Anadolu.
Pizzaballa expressed “deep sorrow and grief” over the death of the two Christian women and offered his condolences to their families.
He said a funeral service will take place at 12:00 local time (09:00 GMT) on Saturday at the Church of Saint Porphyrius in Gaza City.

Earlier Saturday, Porphyrios Greek Orthodox Church in Gaza City also mourned the two Christian women.
In a post on its Facebook page, the church said Patriarchal Vicar Bishop Alexios, the church’s priest Archimandrite Silas and members of the congregation extended their “deepest condolences” to the family of the two victims.
The attack came despite a ceasefire agreement that has been in place in the Gaza Strip on Oct. 10, 2025.
The Israeli army has killed more than 1,400 Palestinians and wounded over 5,000 others since the ceasefire, according to figures from Gaza’s Health Ministry.
Since October 2023, the Israeli army has killed over 74,000 people and wounded more than 175,000 others in a brutal offensive that has also destroyed %90 of Gaza’s infrastructure.
