Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) warned on Monday of rapidly deteriorating humanitarian and living conditions in the Gaza Strip, accusing Israel of continuing to destroy infrastructure essential to Palestinian survival as areas available to the population shrink.

In a statement, MSF said that “Israel is increasingly strangling Gaza and continuing its genocide,” adding that areas considered habitable for Palestinians were continuing to shrink amid violence, restrictions on essential supplies and the destruction of health services and critical infrastructure.

The organization said restrictions on movement within Gaza had intensified over the past year following the establishment of the so-called “Yellow Line,” which it said was initially presented as a temporary Israeli military withdrawal point during the first phase of the ceasefire.

According to MSF, the line has since developed into a military zone reinforced by Israeli troop positions and earthen barriers, alongside continuing demolitions and a westward advance that has pushed Palestinians into increasingly limited areas.

MSF said Israeli forces currently control approximately 65 percent of the Gaza Strip, with the Yellow Line marking the boundaries of territory under Israeli control.

The organisation said violence was not confined to areas surrounding the Yellow Line. According to MSF, its teams treated more than 1,200 violence-related cases across different parts of Gaza during June and July despite the ceasefire.
