Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has warned against Israeli attempts to incite chaos in Syria, while expressing his welcome for the positive developments there.

“We are receiving good news from Syria, but Israel is doing its utmost to stir up chaos there too,” Erdogan said in a speech in Ankara.

The region is facing a storm of crises that are intensifying day by day, he said, according to Turkey’s Anadolu News Agency.

“The Russia-Ukraine war on our northern border will enter its fifth year in a few months. Israel’s war on Palestine continues unabated despite the agreements signed, and before tensions in Iran have fully subsided, a new conflict has erupted, this time in Yemen,” he added.

Erdogan said Houthi attacks targeting Saudi Arabia, which he described as a friendly and sisterly country, had significantly increased tensions in the region.

He also said Turkey had managed to stay out of the region’s conflicts, avoid falling into the trap of provocations and successfully navigate difficult periods.

On 25 September, Erdogan reaffirmed Turkey’s support for Syria’s sovereignty and unity, saying that strengthening Syrian state institutions and improving their ability to combat terrorism serve the interests of the entire region.
