Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has said three more oil tankers struck mines it had planted in the Strait of Hormuz.

In a statement, the IRGC said two tankers it described as violating its rules caught fire and were disabled after mines planted by its naval personnel exploded at what it called an illegal crossing point in the southern part of the strait.

It also reported that a large oil tanker it described as violating its rules exploded and caught fire after hitting a naval mine in the southern Strait of Hormuz.

The tanker was carrying more than two million barrels of crude oil and had switched off all its radar and navigation systems, the statement said.
