Staff members of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestinian Refugees (UNRWA) organised a demonstration and march in Gaza, Palestine, on Monday, to protest a 20 per cent salary cut and the scaling back of services, Anadolu reports.

Organized following a call by the Arab Workers’ Union, the march drew UNRWA personnel from Gaza and the northern regions to gather in front of the Ketibe Mosque before marching toward the agency’s regional office to demand the protection of labor rights and the preservation of essential relief, health, and education services for Palestinian refugees.

The protest comes amid severe humanitarian and living conditions across Gaza, with demonstrators raising concerns about how austerity measures are affecting workers and refugees as UNRWA faces an escalating financial crisis that threatens its operational capacity.
