Most Turkish MPs withdraw from the Israel-Turkey Parliamentary Friendship League

It has been revealed by sources in the Israeli parliament (the Knesset) that most Turkish members of parliament have withdrawn from the Israel-Turkey Parliamentary Friendship League because of the political crisis between the two countries.

Knesset member Robert Tiviaev, who heads the Israeli side of the Friendship League, said, “The vast majority of Turkish MPs in the league have withdrawn following the increased tension that has dominated relations between the two countries recently.” According to Radio Israel, Tiviaev claims that “only four opposition MPs remain in the League’s Turkish side”. Relations between Israel and Turkey have become very tense since Israel’s brutal assault on Gaza early last year.
