US Senate warns Palestine against prosecuting Israel

February 4, 2014 at 10:38 am

A letter signed by three quarters of the members of the US Senate has warned the Palestinian Authority against filing a complaint against Israel at the International Criminal Court, and threatened that such a step would impact on relations between the PA and the US.

75 per cent of the US Senate signed the letter sent to US President Barack Obama which was highlighted by Hebrew media outlets as a guarantee of Senate support for Israel. The letter also coincides with the president’s visit to the occupied Palestinian territories.

The letter, signed by 77 senators, states that, “the Palestinian Authority must realise that its relations with the US will be endangered if it files a complaint against Israel at the International Criminal Court.” It also stressed that “we cannot tolerate any attempt to delegitimize or isolate the state of Israel.”
