Turkish news agency, Anatolia, has said that the African Union is expected to give the Egyptian issue top priority in the upcoming meeting of its elders committee to be held in Burkina Faso on Monday.

The African Union elders committee will discuss crises facing countries in the continent.

According to the news agency, the Committee will demand that Egypt give a specific time frame for the elections and release the removed president, Mohammed Morsi.

Former Malian president, Alfa Omar Conary, proposed this demand. Anatolia reported that informed sources had said that the committee is expected to adopt the demand.

The news agency said that the committee is expected to discuss two other proposals. It would discuss encouraging Egypt to start a national dialogue including all factions. In addition, it would discuss asking for the release of all political prisoners.

According to well-informed sources, who preferred to remain unknown, the committee is going to propose continuing the freeze of Egypt’s activities in the African Union until new presidential elections.
