Al-Sisi warns army of coup failure

February 5, 2014 at 2:11 am

Egyptian coup leader General Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi has called for his supporters to unite in order to protect the coup roadmap for the future. He warned them of its failure if they don’t do so.

Speaking to army officers in a closed forum, Al-Sisi recognised that the future of the coup is at stake. “Several threats are facing the roadmap,” he said. “All national parties, political powers and the mass media have to unite behind the political roadmap. They do not have to divide and clutch at criteria not matching the current reality in Egypt.”

Praising the army, Al-Sisi described it as “dignified” and following the path of development and reformation. “We have no need except to protect the country and its stability,” he insisted.

The coup leader said that the mission is to finalise the Constitution, hold parliamentary elections and elect a president who represents all Egyptians. “We, all Egyptians, have to unite for the sake of building Egypt,” he told the officers.
