Boutafliqa and Al-Ghanouchi hail Algerian and Tunisian relations

Algerian President Abdul-Aziz Boutafliqa received in the capital on Tuesday the head of the Tunisian Al-Nahda movement, Rashid al-Ghanouchi, an Algerian news agency reported.

Both officials expressed their satisfaction with Algerian-Tunisian relations, especially in the economic and security sectors.

In the meeting, Boutafliqa and Al-Ghanouchi discussed the situation in the Arab and Islamic countries. “They evaluated the situations, as well as the efforts to boost the transitional stage in Tunisia,” the news agency said.

Last month, Algeria and Tunisia announced renewed cooperation in the field of “fighting terrorism”. They agreed to mutually confront an organisation connected to Al-Qaeda, which the Tunisian army is fighting near to the Algerian-Tunisian borders.

It is worth mentioning that it is the first time for Boutafliqa to receive a foreign official since his return to the country in mid July after three-months of treatment in France.
