Family sue Egyptian police after man killed in custody

The family of a French citizen who was beaten to death in a Cairo police station in September have said that they will file a lawsuit against the police in Egypt.

Lawyers acting for the victim's family said in a press release on Wednesday that they filed a complaint against the Egyptian Interior Minister and the Commissioner of the Kasr El Nil police station and his deputy, accusing them of "negligent manslaughter and intentional violence that caused death without intention to kill".

Frenchman Eric Lang, 49, was beaten to death by fellow inmates in a Cairo police station in September.
