Ramy Jan: al Waraq incident was purely political to justify more arrests

February 5, 2014 at 2:12 am

Egyptian Coptic journalist and activist, Rami Jan, has said the Interior Minister used the ministry to suppress demonstrations rather than save the lives of the people. Jan stressed that al Waraq incident was a repetition of the attack on Saints Church by the same perpetrators and they had planned other accidents before and would be behind future ones.

Jan said “I have learned from reliable sources that no security personnel protected the church as al Waraq police station was burned nearly 3 months ago”.

In a Facebook post he said, “personal disputes can be turned into sectarian conflicts. However, the incident today [Monday] is purely political; to extend the state of emergency and to justify further arrests and fabricate a sectarian strife, particularly as the Brotherhood has recently earned sympathy from the streets.”
