Al-Attiyah confirms Qatar's full support for Syrian refugees

Qatari Minister of Foreign Affairs His Excellency Khalid bin Mohamed Al-Attiyah met with Antonio Guterres, the UN High Commissioner for Refugees, on the sidelines of the second international donors’ conference in support of Syrian refugees, which was launched on Wednesday in Kuwait.


During the meeting, Guterres briefed Al-Attiyah on the latest developments related to the status of Syrian refugees.

On his part, Al-Attiyah emphasised Qatar’s full support for the Syrian refugees. He also renewed the position of the state of Qatar and called for finding safe corridors for humanitarian aid.

Qatar announced on Wednesday that it will donate $60 million to help relieve the current suffering of Syrian refugees.

The Qatari minister of foreign affairs also met with Pekka Haavisto, Finland’s minister of international development, on the sidelines of the conference.

They discussed bilateral relations between the two countries and ways of developing and strengthening these relations, as well as the latest developments in the regional arena.
