Egypt's National Salvation Front looks fragile as Sabbahi is replaced

February 8, 2014 at 2:48 am

A leading member of the Popular Current political party has revealed that its representative in the National Salvation Front will be Dr Azzazi Ali Azzazi, who will replace Hamdeen Sabbahi, the unsuccessful 2012 presidential candidate. Ahmed Kamel said that it has been also agreed inside the Current that the party will remain in the National Salvation Front on the condition that the “political ceiling” is raised so that it gets close to public demands.

The change has been made, said Kamel, to lift the burden from Sabbahi, whose conflicting stances have caused much embarrassment. His stands were not consistent with the Popular Current’s, reflecting the gap between the NSF and people at the grassroots level, it is claimed.

Azzazi is a member of the board of trustees of the Popular Current.
