Interior Ministry orders staff to return home to prevent popular support for the protests at Nahda Square

February 8, 2014 at 1:48 am

A large number of police and state security personnel have been stationed in front of the Giza metro station to warn employees against entering Nahda square, in order to prevent citizens from joining the protests, telling them, “Leave has been granted today so return home”.

A large number of citizens ignored calls to leave and insisted on continuing their march to join the peaceful protestors trapped at Nahda square.

Nahda square has witnessed cases of severe asphyxia, caused by the teargas fired by the army and the police to disperse the legitimacy supporters gathered in front of Al Istiqama mosque.
