February 8, 2014 at 2:48 am

An official in the security directorate of Alexandria confirmed that the person who was arrested yesterday, Sunday, for throwing two young boys from the roof of an apartment block in Sidi Jaber during disturbances on Friday is a member of an extremist ‘Takfiri’ group and not a member of the Muslim Brotherhood, or a Salafist.

The source explained to the government owned Middle East News Agency that photos taken of the accused during the disturbances depicted him carrying a black flag. He pointed out that after his photo was posted on various satellite stations he left his home having shaved his beard off and cut his hair in order evade the security forces. He was later caught hiding in a flat in the area of Kufr Al Sheikh.

Colonel Amin Izzadin, an assistant in the Ministry of Interior and director of Alexandria Security, announced today the arrest of Engineer Mahmoud H R. He and an accomplice are accused of throwing the children from the apartment block during violent clashes on Friday.
