Pro-coup media professionals head for UAE

February 8, 2014 at 2:48 am

Flights between Egypt and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have seen an increase of 10 per cent in passenger traffic in each direction since the demonstrations which led to the coup against President Mohamed Morsi. The UAE was one of the first foreign states to send messages of congratulations to the coup leaders.

Official sources at Cairo International Airport noted the increase as they reported a large number of pro-coup media professionals making the journey to the UAE this week. Former Minister of Information Osama Heikal, for example, flew to Abu Dhabi while talk show hosts and presenters flew to Dubai.
