Iran's deputy minister assassinated

Iran’s deputy Minister of Trade, Safdar Rahmat-Abadi, was assassinated by unidentified gunmen on Sunday evening in the capital Tehran.


According to the official Iranian news agency (IRNA) “Iran’s deputy Minister of Industry, Mines and commerce, Safdar Rahmat-Abadi was assassinated on Sunday evening in an armed attack near the Sabalan Square in Tehran.”

The agency reported that “unidentified men shot Rahmat- Abadi when he was in his private car on Golbarg Street, Tehran, wounding him in the chest and head.”

The news agency quoted a police officer as saying “investigations showed the two bullets had been fired from inside the car. It is likely the killer had been in the car when he committed the crime.”
