Palestinian teachers in West Bank to carry out 3-day strike

February 10, 2014 at 11:42 am

The Federation of the Palestinian Teachers (FPT) announced on Friday the start of a three-day working strike in all schools, directorates and related ministries in the occupied West Bank.

FPT Secretary General Isam Dababseh said: “FPT decided to carry out the strike from 8 to 11am.” He announced that there would be more measures if the government did not sit with the FPT representatives to negotiate their salary demands.

FPT has demanded that the government approve the 10 per cent annual salary rise for the office workers. Dababseh said: “Our demand is to impose a kind of equality among employees.”

He said that there would be other measures on Wednesday and Thursday unless the government took the necessary steps towards fulfilling their demands.

Dababseh also said that they would hold a gathering opposite the ministerial council in the West Bank city of Ramallah, where most governments’ headquarters exist.
