Qatar has welcomed the deal between the P5 +1 and the Islamic Republic of Iran over Tehran's nuclear programme. An official at the Qatari Foreign Ministry described the deal sealed in Geneva as an "important step" towards peace and security in the region.
Speaking to the Qatar News Agency, the official reiterated Qatar's call for the Middle East to be a nuclear-free zone.
"Qatar is keen to maintain stability in the region," added the ministry official. "The new deal is consistent with our long-standing position in support of diplomatic and peaceful means to resolve such issues."
