The Palestinian transportation ministry installed on Monday 15 seaport lights along the Gaza coast used by fishermen.

An Italian activist group called “Not to be forgotten” sponsored the project, which was carried out by technicians from the transportation ministry. The lights are supplied with solar plates.

Transportation Minister Usama Al-Isawi explained that this project would help the Gaza fishermen who have been suffering from the shortage of electricity caused by the strict siege imposed on Gaza.

A representative of the Italian activists, Rosa Scone, expressed her happiness and said: “I am very proud that we are able to offer something for the Palestinians living under the strict siege in Gaza.”

She added that they are doing their best to offer as much aid to the besieged Palestinians in Gaza as possible.

For their side, the fishermen expressed their happiness with the seaport lights and thanked the Italian activists for their support.

Besides their suffering because of the shortage of fuel and electricity, Gaza fishermen are also targeted by Israeli gunships in the Mediterranean almost every day.
