Hamas calls for Palestinian Authority to reveal facts about Arafat’s death

The Palestinian Islamist Movement Hamas has called upon the Palestinian Authority (PA) to carry out an independent investigation into the death of late leader Yasser Arafat.

Hamas spokesperson Sami Abu-Zuhri issued a press release on Wednesday stating that: “The findings of the investigation handed over today to the PA prove that Arafat was assassinated.”

Abu-Zuhri said that Hamas accuses the Israeli occupation of orchestrating Arafat’s death. He added that the leader of Hamas’ political bureau, Khalid Meshaal, was the first one to determine Israel’s responsibility for Arafat’s death.

Meanwhile, in response to the findings, which leave open the possibility that Israel is responsible for Arafat’s death, Abu-Zuhri called for the PA to immediately stop negotiations.

He also called for revealing the full details of the investigation in order to let all Palestinians know about them.

The findings submitted to the PA prove that polonium was found in Arafat’s body.
