Intifada Youth Coalition announces Jerusalem week and calls for widest popular protests

Palestine’s Intifada Youth Coalition announced, on Saturday, the launch of its Jerusalem Week to support the city and the Islamic and Christian holy places against Israeli occupation.

The Jerusalem-based coalition stressed on the need to maintain a physical presence in the courtyards of Al-Aqsa Mosque to prevent the Israeli army and settlers from entering them. The Coalition also called for steadfastness in the face of Israeli plans to Judaize Jerusalem and the holy sites.

The group announced in a statement that Monday September 30 would be a “day of rage” against the settlements that stretch across the West Bank; they called on the Palestinian youth, university and school students, to close all roads that lead to them. The Coalition urged them to demonstrate in front of military checkpoints which humiliate the Palestinians on a daily basis.

According to the Coalition, dozens of international peace activists will also participate in the activities on Monday as the settlements constitute a clear violation of international conventions and resolutions, which oblige Israel to dismantle them because they infringe on Palestinian rights.
