Iran denounces Obama's remarks about its nuclear programme

Spokeswoman of Iran's Foreign Ministry Marzieh Afkham denounced on Monday US President Barack Obama's recent remarks regarding Iran's nuclear programme.

According to Iranian news agency Mehr, Afkham told ABC TV channel that, "White House persistence that war is a choice in this issue is illogical and illegal."

Afkham claimed that a group of people control US foreign policy in a way that keeps up with their interests. "US foreign policy is based on the interests of sovereign lobbies, and this is a steadfast belief in the American thinking," she said.

She added that if the US adopts a military position "in order to guarantee the interests of these lobbies under the pretext of violating international conventions and the UN Charter, [it] will not be justified."
