The Palestinian Prisoners’ Club published on Wednesday a report issued by the Israel Prison Service about the numbers of Palestinians held in Israeli jails. According to Israel’s own statistics, there are 4,762 Palestinians in detention, including 13 women and 149 children; 134 prisoners are being held in so-called “administrative detention” without charge or trial.

Sentences range from 3 months to life; there are 561 Palestinians serving life sentences in Israel. The largest single group of prisoners, 620, is serving between 10-15 years in prison.

The report also reveals that the vast majority of the prisoners, 4,183 of them, are from the occupied West Bank, 400 are from Gaza and 179 are from Jerusalem. There are also 214 Palestinian citizens of Israel behind bars along with 31 from outside Israel altogether.
