A number of families of Palestinian martyrs and those that have been wounded set up a protest in front of the Palestinian Liberation Organisation (PLO) head office in the Gaza Strip.

The families said that they are protesting against the continued cut of their salaries. The Palestinian government in Ramallah first cut their salaries in 2008.

They said that PLO officials in Gaza had promised to sort out the problems with the government in Ramallah several times. The families said that these promises had never been fulfilled. “This is what has led us to set up this protest,” a member of the families told MEMO’s photographer.

The families called upon all sides to work seriously to sort out their problems and resume their salaries.

“Amidst the harsh economic situation in Gaza, this is the least that could be done for us,” a father of a martyr said.
