Senior Fatah leader in Palestinian refugee camp in Lebanon assassinated

A senior Fatah leader in the Ain El Hilweh Palestinian refugee camp in Lebanon was shot dead on Friday evening.

A Palestinian source in the camp said that unknown gunmen shot Mosaad Hojair; a Fatah leader and member of the joint Palestinian security force.

The source said that Hojair was shot in his eye and was rushed to a local hospital but was later pronounced dead.

The killing has led to tensions in the camp after armed relatives and supporters of the deceased blocked the entrance to a main market.

Meanwhile, an action group has begun investigations into the killing and lead efforts to deescalate tensions.
