The Ministry of Interior in the Gaza Strip has uncovered a plot aimed at overthowing the Hamas led administration in the enclave. A ministry spokesman, Islam Shahwan, disclosed yesterday that several suspects were arrested; all with links to Israel, the Palestinian General Intelligence in Ramallah and the intelligence services of an Arab state.
Mr Shahwan said, "The Ministry of Interior and security services were placed on high alert and they will not allow any person to threaten the security and safety of our people and their heroic resistance. What the Israeli occupation could not achieve with rockets it will not achieve with chaos".
Shahwan added, "We're not afraid of these schemes because our internal front is strong. The government will work to ease the living conditions for the people of the Gaza Strip." He said his government would make an announcement of these contingency plans once they are completed.
