Major Israeli retailer opens store in Ramallah

The biggest clothing chain in Israel, Fox Network, has unveiled its new branch in the occupied West Bank. Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper, which reported the opening of the store in Ramallah, said that it is not a coincidence that it took place as the resumption of peace talks was announced by US Secretary of State John Kerry.

The newspaper pointed out that the new shop will be similar to those within the so-called Green Line and will be selling clothing for women, men and children. It is located in one of the main shopping malls in Ramallah close to the square named after the late Palestinian President Yasser Arafat.

An anonymous Palestinian told Yedioth Ahronoth that Israel is the enemy, “and we are forbidden from dealing with the enemy.” Another commented, “It is ironic that the European Union has announced a boycott of the products of Israeli settlements in the occupied West Bank because they are illegal, while an Israeli company is opening a branch in the heart of the Palestinian Authority.” That, he added, is what you call crossing a red line.
