February 13, 2014 at 2:56 am

The Secretary General of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Ekmeleddin İhsanoğlu, met the Palestinian ambassador to Saudi Arabia on Monday. The OIC chief discussed Israeli threats to Al-Aqsa Mosque at the meeting with Jamal Al-Shoubaki in Jeddah, along with the future of Jerusalem and the whole Palestinian issue in the face of constant Israeli aggression.

Checkpoints across the occupied West Bank, Palestinian prisoners and the wholesale abuse of human rights by the Israelis were all on the agenda.

Al-Shoubaki is also Palestine’s representative at the OIC. He told İhsanoğlu about the obstacles that Israel puts in the way of the peace process, notably settlements in the occupied territories. He thanked the OIC for its efforts to raise the issue of Jerusalem in international forums, notably the recent conference in Azerbaijan. The ambassador invited the Secretary General to visit Palestine.

In return, on behalf of the OIC Mr İhsanoğlu thanked Mr Al-Shoubaki, whose term of office as Palestinian ambassador in Saudi Arabia has ended.
