Shaath calls for implementation of international rules in response to Israeli violations

Fatah’s Central Committee member and International Relations Commissioner, Dr Nabil Shaath, asserted the need to apply international and European rules in response to Israeli violations.

This came during two meetings that Shaath held separately on Wednesday with the UN envoy for the Middle East Peace Process, Robert Serry and the Irish Minister of Justice and Defense, Alan Schutter.

Shaath said that there was a special role for the UN as a guardian of international law, especially in the light of continued Israeli abuses.

Shaath stressed that the current situation should not continue, and that waiting was no longer possible given that the Israeli government continues to create new facts on the ground.

He also emphasised the continuation of international activism for Palestine as well as Palestinian attempts to secure reconciliation efforts in order to confront the Israeli occupation.
