Abdullah Gul makes first Turkish presidential visit to UAE in 28 years

On Sunday, January 29th, Turkish President, Abdullah Gul, began an official visit to the United Arab Emirates – the first visit by a Turkish president to the UAE in 28 years.
 
The official Turkish news agency reported that the 3-day visit followed an invitation from UAE President Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan. The Turkish President is accompanied by a delegation of 100 Turkish businessmen.


Gul will meet with UAE President and governor of Abu Dhabi, Sheikh Khalifa; his deputy and the governor of Dubai, Sheikh Mohamed bin Rashid Al Maktoom; and Abu Dhabi’s Crown Prince Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. The Turkish President will also deliver a speech at the Turkey-UAE Business Forum, which is currently being held in Dubai.
 
UAE officials and the Turkish President are to discuss means of enhancing bilateral, economic and trade relations, mutual investment, and defence industries, as well as regional issues of mutual concern.
