Al-Nahda support for Syrian revolution is "established and fundamental"

A political adviser to the Tunisian Prime Minister and senior member of Al-Nahda Party has said that his party’s support for the Syrian revolution is an “established and fundamental position”. Mr. Lotfi Zitoun stressed that Al-Nahda respects totally the decision by the Syrian people to free the country from oppression.

Speaking to Quds Press, Zitoun said that the apology made by Al-Nahda’s leader, Sheikh Rachid Ghannouchi, to the people of Syria for inviting Hezbollah figures to attend the party’s 9th conference was made in the context that support for the revolution is fundamental. Sheikh Ghannouchi made his apology due to Hezbollah’s support for the Asad regime.

When asked whether Ghannouchi’s apology is an acknowledgement that inviting Hezbollah to the conference was a mistake, Zitoun agreed that it was.
