Arts festival in Morocco commemorating third anniversary of Operation Cast Lead

The Moroccan group Initiative for Support and Victory has organised an arts festival in the capital Rabat to commemorate the third anniversary of Israel’s “Operation Cast Lead” against the people of Gaza. The theme of the festival is “Palestine – the blossom of the freedom spring”.

The programme comes under the broader framework of support for the Palestinians and will be held in Al-Mehdi Ben Barka Hall in Rabat on Sunday 8 January. A concert and an accompanying art exhibition will be open to the general public. It comes ten days after an outdoor protest in solidarity with the people of Gaza, coordinated with Morocco’s national Working Group to Support Iraq and Palestine.

A statement issued by the organisers praised the role of the Palestinian resistance in the face of Israeli aggression: “On this sad occasion, while we remember with the rest of the world the ferocity of Israel’s attack on civilians in Gaza, we stand with the Palestinians and their great example of steadfastness.”
