The biggest ever international air force exercise is taking place in Israel, the country’s Channel 2 TV has reported. The countries taking part, it is claimed, are ready to assist Israel in a pre-emptive strike should Syria’s chemical weapons fall into rebel hands.
Over one hundred state of the art fighter aircraft have arrived in Israel from around the world for the exercise. Channel 2 did not disclose which countries are taking part. It is known, however, that an Israeli jet which cannot be detected by radar is among those involved. The exercise, claims the TV station, resembles the NATO missions against the former Libyan regime of Muammar Gaddafi.
According to one pilot interviewed by Channel 2, “We are preparing ourselves to down enemy aircraft with wide international cooperation.”
