Egypt’s Interior Ministry has announced the arrest of 129 members of the now notorious Black Bloc militia. The Assistant Minister for National Security Affairs confirmed the arrests while attending a closed session of the Defence and National Security Committee on Tuesday.

He added that the ministry is working to uncover the identities of the financiers of such militias and build up a dossier of information about Black Bloc. The official pointed out that extensive investigations in this regard are underway and once a full picture emerges the details will be made public.

According to Engineer Amr Farouk, a member of Egypt’s Shura Council, the Assistant Minister surprised everyone by announcing that the government is aware of the involvement of some figures from the National Salvation Front in funding the militia. The ministry, it was said, is pursuing such leads to get further details.
