Britain’s Vice-Consul in Jerusalem, Mr Benjamin Saul, has visited the Al-Jazeera Athletics Club in Gaza City to see the conditions and facilities available to Gaza’s disabled athletes. During his visit, Mr. Saul met with the Gazan Paralympians set to attend the Olympics Games in London later this year.

Mr. Saul expressed deep admiration for the tremendous achievements of the athletes, who have won numerous trophies and medals in championships held in Qatar, Tunisia, China and other places across Asia. He also expressed surprise at the number of World Records held by Gaza’s disabled athletes and their high international ranking despite the particularly difficult conditions they face living in the beleaguered Gaza Strip.

The Vice-Consul indicated that Britain will do its utmost to facilitate and support the deserving efforts of these courageous individuals during the London Games.
