The National Committee for Supporting Detainees organised a demonstration on Wednesday in front of the International Red Cross office in Nablus in solidarity with prisoners on hunger strike inside Israeli jails.

The protest was attended by prisoners’ families, elected members of the Palestinian Legislative Committee and independent figures. They handed a petition to the Red Cross calling on the organisation to fulfil its traditional role of saving lives by intervening in the prisoners’ hunger strike. The priority, said the petitioners, is prisoner Hassan al-Safadi, who has been on hunger strike for 85 days.

The demonstrators confirmed their belief in the legitimate right of their sons to regain their own freedom and stolen dignity through protests. They also announced their pride at the patience shown by the hunger strikers and all other prisoners struggling for their rights.
