Egypt demands immediate end to Israeli attacks on Gaza

February 17, 2014 at 11:15 pm

Egypt’s foreign minister, Mohammed Amr, has condemned the ongoing Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip, which has left 14 Palestinians dead and many injured since Friday.

In a press statement on Saturday, Amr said that his country was seriously concerned about the unprovoked aggression, adding that Cairo had called on Tel Aviv to immediately end its aggression.

The foreign minister said that Egypt was currently holding contacts aimed at ending the military escalation.

Meanwhile, members of the Egyptian parliament’s Arab Affairs Committee said on Saturday that they would raise the issue of Israel’s escalation with the foreign minister and demand a “stronger position” on the part of Cairo.
