Egypt ready to defend Sinai against all threats

February 17, 2014 at 11:19 pm

Egypt’s Minister of Defence has said that the Egyptian armed forces will not allow any danger to threaten Sinai. Commander-in-Chief General Abdel Fattah al-Sisi pointed out that his troops are ready to sacrifice their lives for Sinai to remain part of Egypt. They are, he insisted, walking in the footsteps of the great October War generation who fought and were martyred to return Sinai to the nation.

The General was speaking during a live-firing exercise in Sinai, reports the Middle East News Agency. He said that the drills being carried out demonstrate that the Egyptian army is ready to confront any threat to Sinai or any other integral part of Egypt.

“The Egyptian army is the only coherent military power in the Arab region,” said Al-Sisi. “Its leadership is keen to reinforce its capabilities at the earliest opportunity, not only with equipment but also with personnel.” The soldiers’ morale is sky-high, he added.
