The Muslim Brotherhood’s Freedom and Justice Party (FJP) in Egypt has issued a warning about “forces” which are trying to undermine revolutionary progress in the country.
In a statement issued on 18 December, the party called upon the Egyptian youth, who set the example for patriotism and sacrifice during the January revolution, to challenge those who are set on destroying the gains made so far. The FJP has said that the people of Egypt need to protect public facilities and buildings; “Burning and vandalising public buildings does not hurt the enemies of the revolution,” said the statement, “it actually boosts their aims.”
The party demanded that the armed forces perform their national duty and protect the people. “The army should bring an end to the clashes on the streets and bring those responsible for the violence to justice if it is to stay in the hearts of the Egyptian people,” added the FJP.
