Egyptian religious scholars to visit Gaza

February 17, 2014 at 11:19 pm

The government in Gaza has given notice that a delegation of scholars from the Egyptian Ministry of Religious Endowments is due to visit the beleaguered Strip on Wednesday.

The Minister of Religious Endowments in Gaza told the Middle East News Agency that arrangements have been made to receive almost 60 scholars for a three-day visit. Ismail Radwan added that the delegation will visit a number of mosques, religious institutions and Quran study centres in order to meet their peers in Gaza.

He explained that this visit was arranged during his own trip to Cairo, when he headed a delegation from his ministry and met with the Egyptian Minister of Endowments Talaat Afifi and a number of prominent religious figures. Mr. Radwan visited Cairo last month to sign a Memorandum of Understanding with his counterpart.
