Eight Palestinian farmers were injured this morning in the Shujaeya district, east of Gaza City, in an unprovoked attack by Israel. All the victims were working on their farms during the attack; two are in a critical condition in hospital. In a similar incident, a number of farmers were wounded by Israeli forces in Bayt Lahiya, in the northern Gaza Strip.

In the south of the beleaguered territory, Israeli forces infiltrated the area east of Khan Yunus. Eyewitnesses report that a number of Israeli bulldozers and tanks eventually retreated under air cover.

Commentators point out that these are the sort of daily infringements which provoke resistance groups in Gaza to fire rockets into Israel.

Subsequent Israeli “responses” are given maximum media coverage to illustrate how dangerous life is for Israeli civilians. No such sympathetic coverage is afforded to Palestinian civilians trying to go about their daily business under the threat and reality of Israeli bombs and bullets.
